QUEEN ELIZABETH CLASS BATTLESHIPS: Shipcraft 15
This volume covers the five ships of the highly successful Queen Elizabeth
class, a design of fast battleship that set the benchmark for the last
generation of dreadnoughts. Although they fought with distinction in WW1, all
were thought valuable enough to be modernised between the wars - indeed, three
were massively reconstructed, providing the modelmaker with a challenging
variety of possible subjects.
Order # CWSC-15 $23.95
HIPPER CLASS CRUISERS: Shipcraft 16
The subject of this volume is the largest and most sophisticated German cruiser
class of WW2. The five ships suffered very different fates. Blucher was sunk
during the invasion of Norway in 1940, whereas Admiral Hipper fought right
through the war. The most famous, Prinz Eugen, escaped when Bismarck was sunk
and survived to be expended in a postwar Atomic bomb test. Seydlitz was intended
to be converted to an aircraft carrier, but never finished, while Lutzow was
sold to Russia and sunk by her erstwhile owners.

Description: The largest naval vessels in the world are the Nimitz-class super aircraft carriers. The Nimitz (CVN-68) launched the class when it was commissioned on 3 May 1975 and it has been followed by another 9 vessels. Each is more than 1,000 feet long, and displaces 103,000 tons at full load. Carriers are vital to the projection of US power around the globe: USS Nimitz responded to the Iran hostage crisis in the late 1970s, launched raids on Libya in the early 1980s and challenged China's growing navy in the Taiwan Straits in 1996. USS Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first US warship to respond to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in August 1990. USS Carl Vinson was the first to launch air attacks as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. In the mid-1990s USS Theodore Roosevelt supported NATO air strikes against Bosnian Serbs during fighting in former Yugoslavia. USS Abraham Lincoln backed up Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in the early 2000s. Illustrated with more than 300 photographs, plus color profiles and detailed line drawings. Goodall; 80 pages. Order number # SS5606 Price $19.00

New Orleans Class (CA32) Cruisers: Shipcraft 13
The subject of this volume is the seven-ship New Orleans class, probably the US Navy’s most hard-fought heavy cruisers of the War – three were sunk in action but others survived massive damage, and by 1945 three out of four of the navy’s most decorated ships were of this class. Although designed within treaty limitations, they proved powerful and well-balanced ships, and their unparalleled fighting record makes them popular modelling subjects. Order # CWSC-13 $23.95
YAMATO CLASS BATTLESHIPS: Shipcraft 14
The Yamato class battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy were the largest warships of the Second World War and the largest battleships ever constructed, displacing 78,800 tonnes. They also carried the largest naval artillery ever fitted to a warship - 18in guns. Neither Yamato nor her sistership Musashi made much impact on the War. Musashi was sunk during the battle of Leyte Gulf while Yamato, deployed in a deliberate suicide attack on Allied forces at the battle of Okinawa, was finally sunk by US carrier-based aircraft; Not 300 of her 3,330 crew survived. | LP350-47 | UDALOY | GMM's new Udaloy set is designed to be exceptionally user-friendly, especially
concerning the design and assembly of the extremely complex Russian radars and
mast platform assemblies. A minimal parts count combined with a reduced need to
glue parts together and GMM's unique "tab-and-slot" construction results in a
beautifully detailed collection of fittings that most modelers will be able to
handle. Our careful usage of actual Russian drawings of the Udaloy and her
sisterships and close-up photos of Russian naval radars and other items makes
this the most technically accurate PE detail set ever released for this class of
ship.
The set supplies highly accurate replicas of all air search, surface search, and fire control radars carried by various ships of this class including the Top Plate, Strut Pair, Cross Sword, and Palm Frond radars. Also included are assorted ECM and direction finding antennas. Additional items provided include deployed and folded helicopter rotors for two Kamov helicopters, details for the ship's boats, correctly configured helicopter landing pad nets & deck edge safety nets for both Udaloy and Admiral Pantaleyev kits, replacement platforms, support girders, topmasts, & related details for both masts, replacement antenna towers, flag- and jack-staffs, rigging & hooks for the ship's crane, accommodation ladders, vertical & inclined ladders, bridge windshield wipers, detailed vent grilles for bulkheads, and dedicated Russian-design railing complete with accurate turnbuckle detailing where required. This set will allow a modeler to configure the Trumpeter kit into any version of the Russian Udaloy-class guided missile destroyers. It also features extensive 3-D relief etching in .005" brass for extra detail as well as extra fine railings and antennas. | $45.00 |
| LP350-48 | IJN EXTRA RAILINGS | 6,000 scale feet, or approximately 205 linear inches, of World War Two Imperial
Japanese Navy warship style railing including "drooped chain" styles and solid
pipe rails. Also includes simulated canvas-covered 2-bar rails and pre-curved
chain rails for upswept forward decks. Styles and quantities are as follows:
Pre-curved bow chain rails: two sections, each 9.125 inches long. Style 1 - main deck chain rails: nine (9) sections, each 9.375 inches long. Style 2 - upper deck chain rails: seven (7) sections, each 9.375 inches long. Style 3 - upper deck two-bar pipe rails: three (3) sections, each 9.375 inches long. Simulated canvas-covered pipe rails for upper decks: two sections for a total of 11.375 inches. Simulated chain rails feature individual link detailing. Simulated canvas-covered rails feature relief-etched "canvas" with see-through lacing holes. Illustrated instructions are included. | $35.00 |
| LP350-49 | WW2 USS GEARING DD710 cl. | This set is designed to precisely fit the Dragon 1/350 scale
kit of the World War Two U.S. Navy destroyer USS Gearing (DD-710) and its
sisterships. A number of alternate fittings such as depth charge tracks and
other parts are supplied. You will have some parts left over when your project
is complete.
Included is a full set of custom-fitted and pre-shaped main deck rails with integral netting and correctly positioned chocks. Also supplied is a set of custom-fitted 01 level rails. Additional railing sections in several styles are provided for custom work including simulated canvas-covered rails and tapered rails for the aft funnel platform. ELCO 80 PT Boat Color On Deck (SC)
Doyle. ELCO 80-Foot PT Boat on Deck Color Series. Say ""PT Boat"" and the image that comes to mind is that of the 80-foot patrol torpedo boat built by the Electric Launch Company (ELCO) in Bayonne, New Jersey. These nimble warships - which by the end of WWII could deliver the same firepower as early-war destroyers had done. A trio of Packard marine engines, delivering 1200 to 1500 horsepower each, gave the PT Boats speeds of 40 knots. Three hundred twenty-six of the 80-foot wooden wonders were built, with 296 of them seeing service in the US Navy; the remainder went to the USSR under Lend-Lease. The PT-565 class boats were the final and hardest hitting ELCO 80 - PT-617, the boat featured in the book, is the sole surviving intact example. Packed with over 200 photographs, plus color art and profiles; 80 pages."

US
Navy Ships Camouflage WWII, Part 1 Destroyers
and Destroyer Escorts (SC) Since
the formation of the Continental Navy in 1775, US Navy ships have donned
numerous colors. During WWI, when the German U-boat threatened to stop US and
Canadian supplies from reaching their European allies, the British Royal Navy
began using a splinter-type camouflage to confuse the enemy about the speed,
distance, and the course of its ships. The US also adopted similar camouflage
during this timeframe. When the Bureau of Construction and Repairs began issuing
instructions for different camouflage schemes and colors, the Navy took note,
and by WWII, USN destroyers sported several different camouflage schemes that
ranged from blue to gray to black and included painted bow waves and multiple
dazzle schemes. When WWII ended in 1945, the fleet was restored to Standard Navy
Gray to await the next revolution in deceptive paintwork. Illustrated with 116
b/w photos, 2 color photos, and over 30 color renderings/profiles. 68 pages. Order

The latest volume covers the hugely important American carrier of the
Second World War. Built in larger numbers than any fleet carrier before or
since, the Essex class can claim to be the US Navy's most significant weapon
in the defeat of Japan. Carrying up to 100 aircraft and capable of absorbing
enormous punishment (not one was sunk), they spearheaded the Fast Carrier Task
Forces for most of the Pacific War.
The heavily illustrated work contains everything a model builder needs to know
about this prolific class. Order # SC-12 $21.95

Shipcraft 3 Yorktown Class Aircraft Carriers
Softcover Book. Yorktown Class Aircraft Carriers: Shipcraft. by Roger Chesneau. The ShipCraft series provides in-depth information about building and modifying model kits of famous warship types. Lavishly illustrated, each book takes the modeler through a brief history of the subject class, including an extensive photographic survey of either a high-quality model or a surviving example of the ship. Hints on building the model and modifying and improving the basic kit are followed by a section on paint schemes and camouflage, featuring numerous color profiles and highly detailed line drawings. The subject of this volume is the Yorktown class, the near-legendary aircraft carriers that kept the Japanese at bay in the dark days between Pearl Harbor and the decisive battle of Midway, where Yorktown herself was lost. By Clifton Simmons. The USS Tennessee (BB-43) was commissioned on 3 June 1920 and is one of the most under-celebrated battleships in the history of the U.S. Navy. She was at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, and she was a participant in the last battleship vs. battleship battle in naval history - the Battle of Surigao Strait, 24-25 October 1944. more capable. Carrying twenty-four Trident missiles each, the Ohios carry fifty

SS1203 USN Float Planes of WW2
U.S. Navy Floatplanes in Action WWII
By Al Adcock.
Before the advent of
radar and other electronic devices aboard naval vessels, the duties of searching
for enemy fleets and the spotting of naval gunfire fell upon the floatplane
scouts. These small one- and two-place catapult-launched aircraft - the Curtis
SOC Seagull, Vought OS2U Kingfisher, Curtiss SO3C Seamew, and Curtiss SC Seahawk
- were the 'eyes of the fleet' during World War II, and some continued to serve
until as late as 1949. More than ninety photos, ten color profiles,
black-and-white line drawings, color covers.
Fifty pages, soft cover,
landscape format. Order # SS1203 $11.95
American submarines were a decisive element in winning WWII in the Pacific,
accounting for more than half of the nearly 10 million tons of Japanese naval
and merchant shipping lost during the war, while also carrying out such other
important duties as pilot rescue, reconnaissance and espionage. The burden of
the submarine war from 1942 until victory in 1945 was borne by the US Navy's
Gato-class submarines (including Balao and Tench variants). Many of these subs
continued to serve after receiving postwar refits in the US and foreign navies.
More than 100 b/w photos, 6 color profiles, line drawings and color covers; 50 pages. Order # SS4028 $11.95 (Soon to be available in Adobe - Jan 2007)
